Transition Time

Hallway got sanded and underlayment a little bit as well.

Hoping for a flush finish with the marmoleum.

Stone Layout

Perimeters were easy - not too many choices to fit them in.

Island was a bit trickier.

Wood Flooring and Stairs

The hallway wood was pieced in.  It looks great from a distance, but
the surface is totally bumpy.  Hope sanding fixes that.

And there will be some work for the painters to fix, I guess.

Downgrading

The first basement stair apron went in and we realized it was solid oak.
Since we are going to paint they are going to change for paint grade material for the rest.

Hoping this is Temporary

This is what it looks like when you return the pantry because it was one inch too wide.

Almost Black

Choosing a sash paint color.

Left - Farrow and Ball Mole's Breath
Right - Benjamin Moore Amherst Gray

Thinking the right looks better with the leaded glass.

Cabinets and Issues

Mudroom Cabinet is Big!
Gonna need to move that light box and probably get some new mudroom light fixtures.

Lockers look good, but the doors were installed wrong and knocked into one another.

Breakfast Nook bench is a bit low -
It was supposed to touch the bottom of the window apron.

Island Side panels were not supposed to look like two false doors.

Island front panel was supposed to be wider in center to match the sink width.

Crown Possibilities

Apparently our ceiling is 1-1/4" taller on one side of the kitchen than the other.
This is making crown molding a challenge.

We had planned to use a stock crown close to the rest of the house and later changed as we were having a knife made to recreate the original crown and picture rail.  But with that change and the ceiling height issue we would be nailing crown to air in some portions.  We are trying to see if adding a third piece of molding might be a solution.

Ready for Cabinets

And here's what is going on in the basement -
framing of the electrical panel

Paint Update

This used to be the hall closet:

And the office closet was here:

This is our new, wider door from the kitchen to the hallway:
(lots of discussions over those two inches...)

Got rid of the doggie door.
